Teachers Conference in Kigali

The HOPE Team - Wednesday, July 11, 2012

Over 130 teachers from across Kigali gathered in Kabeza on Saturday 7th July for the Association of Christian Teachers (ACT) Conference. Teachers of Early Childhood and Primary as well as school administrators attended workshops on various topics, ranging from cognitive development to naming the parts of the body, to the basics of Excel.

The songs that could be heard coming from the Early Childhood room were evidence of the fun that can be had while learning. Lessons covered developmental milestones, developmental delay, child protection and more. The primary teachers split into two groups, P1-3 and P4-6 in order to target the lessons to those specific year levels. For the first time, elective workshops were offered specifically for school Administrators. This was a great opportunity for learning the basics of Excel and Word, as well as mentoring and leadership.

The day was a success. So much so that people even phoned their friends to tell them to come along! HOPE: Global has enjoyed a long relationship with Fred Buyinza and ACT and we look forward to continuing to build on this into the future.
